A waymark is defined, by www.waymarking.com as a physical location marked by GPS coordinates. In addition to the unique latitude and longitude coordinates each waymark contains photos, information, details and data unique to the waymark and as defined by category. www.waymarking.com provides the tools to organize and share the locations.
Waymarks are organized around categories or themes, at present there are fifteen departments, ranging from animals, buildings, culture, history, nature, monuments, recreation, oddities and more. Within these fifteen distinct classifications lie nearly 1100 categories, There are categories in nearly every conceivable area, topic and region, be it in the neighborhood, across town, within your state, nationwide and around the world. There is a category, even multiple categories, to capture the interest, attention or passion of everyone. Categories and themes range from the ordinary to the remarkable, the obscure to the distinguished, the unknown to the renown, and include the scenic, the macabe, the historic, the spooky, the stylish, the fun, the artistic, the religious, the practical, all and everything in between, all interesting, educational and for all ages.
So far I have posted over 960 waymarks and add more every day. I've also visited over 300 other waymarks. It is a fun, easy, no cost event for everyone. I plan to showcase some of my waymarks on this website.
